Zagastic was formed as a reggae-jam combo in Pecs, the Mediterranean multicultural center of Southern Hungary, at the first half of the decade. Its early gigs took place at local clubs and festivals, jamming together with various featured vocalists, percussionists, DJs and selectors. At these times main motivation was simply playing music together itself, good for establishing a milieu for digging deep down to the roots and improving a basic sense for a collective riddim production. Though Zagastic's repertoire contained mainly reggae and R&B covers, with much attention and respect to the works of Bob Marley and various other dreads, it already had some of its own music as well, inspiring the band to forge its way towards polishing a new sound.
